1973 JAGUAR E-TYPE
V12 Grand Touring 2+2, 4 wheel disc brakes and independent suspension, subframe/monocoque.
Production Years: 1961 – 1974
Country: Great Britain
Number Produced: 72,515 (All E-types)
The E-Type was initially designed and presented to the public as a rear-wheel drive grand touring car in both two-seater coupé form (FHC or Fixed Head Coupé) as well as a two-seater convertible (OTS or Open Two Seater) with the first models delivered in early 1961. Very advanced for its time, a front subframe carrying the engine, front suspension and front bodywork bolted directly to the body tub. This eliminated the common and inefficient ladder frame chassis. All E-Types featured independent coil spring rear suspension designed and developed by R J Knight with torsion bar front ends, and four wheel disc brakes, in-board at the rear, all were power-assisted. Our car, with the V12 engine, a Series 3 “2+2” four-seater version of the coupé, with a lengthened wheelbase, was released several years later.
